Workout in the Office!

Working a 9 to 5 can really drain your energy. You already spend about 3 quarters of your day sitting and sleeping. Commuting to work either in your car or a bus or train, sitting the whole day at work, and then coming home to a couch or a bed. You need some exercise to get your blood flowing and your calories burning!

You may be putting on a few extra pounds and few extra pounds can turn into a lot of weight quick. What if there was a way to workout at the place you spend most of your day? You’ve definitely come to the right spot as I will be giving you some workouts and stretches you can do right in your office! That’s right, burn a few calories while you’re at work. Making a slight change in your daily habits and sweating a little more will go a long way in your overall health.

Stretching While Working

Let’s begin with some stretches because this is the most vital part of any exercise.

1. Neck Rolls

In your seat, straighten yourself and drop your right ear to your right shoulder and hold for a few seconds. Repeat for the other side.

2. The sky is the limit

Interlock your fingers and raise them up towards the ceiling as high as you can. Face your palms upwards to feel it more.

3. Break Your Neck

Turn your head to either side and try to look over your shoulder holding it for a few seconds.

4. Bobblehead

Drop your chin towards your chest and gently roll your head from side to side.

5. Shrugs

Raise both shoulders up towards your ears and hold for a few seconds.

Exercises at Work

You may have to speak with your manager or boss to see if you can take a few minutes to do a couple of these workouts. Even if you decide to do them right before lunch!

1. Walk/Jog/Run in place

3 to 5 sets of 30-45 seconds. Choose the pace that is best for you and you can even add high knee raises to bring a bigger challenge. Just get up from your chair and start it!

2. Push- Ups

Get to it and don’t worry about being on the floor. Your health is more important than your pride. Shoot for 10 reps 3 times.

3. Squats

It is a simple as standing up from your chair, sitting back down, and repeating 10 more times.

4. Calf Raises

Stand behind your chair or desk and hold on for support. Raise your heels off the floor until you are standing on your toes and slowly lower yourself back to the floor. Do this for 3 sets of 10.

5. Shoulder Press

(My personal favorite) Find a somewhat heavy phone book or something of that sort and hold it at shoulder height, to then raise it all the way over your head. Do 10 reps, 3 times.

Now, I obviously can’t force exercise upon you, but if you did get through this post you have to be somewhat interested in office workouts. For some more workouts to do at your desk visit this page. Try to get your team involved! You’ll be helping others get active as well!

inMark Media’s Culture

Working a typical 9 to 5 will get very repetitive and dull. Waking up every morning to rush to work, driving through traffic, and dealing with those coworkers, who are just that, coworkers. Working at inMark Media is completely different! All of the employees are extremely friendly and easy going, with that “we are a family” mentality.

Like-Minded People:

Like-minded uplifting coworkers is what you should gravitate to. These are the kind of people you need to surround yourself to grow and chase your own dreams.

Working with so many likeminded positive people will change those coworkers to friends that you work with. This makes everything you do just that much enjoyable.

Management:

It all starts from the top. Franco and Marco, our CEO and COO respectively, are both putting in efforts to instill that kind of culture in the workplace. Hiring like-minded people is very difficult, you don’t actually know a person until you hire them, anything before could be a bluff. After you hire the right people maintaining the culture should be a little easier. Franco and Marco instilled a sense of family, everything is so transparent with open door policies, team trips, and daily huddles. Everyone is always in communication in our group chat and pushing others to be the best versions of themselves each day.

Once Marco and Franco have instilled the culture they want, it is up to everyone else to buy into the culture to set it in stone. That is exactly what has happened. Your coworkers at inMark Media, strive to be the best versions of themselves while encouraging others to do the same. Whether it is going to the gym before or after work, denying the pizza from the new guy who has yet to learn the healthy lifestyle, or even a simple text of appreciation, at inMark Media we always grow as a family.

Everyone here brings something to the table, and transparency allows for everyone to get a say. Important decisions or “let’s have some fun” ideas go a long way when you have a team of like-minded people working to bring out the best in each other and inMark. Highlight of the Week: Brand Bars

As an advertising company and a media agency, inMark has many products and services to choose from. There is something for every business looking to become known in their local community.

With a patented idea becoming the backbone of our running business, our Brand Bars deserve this week’s highlight of the week.

Specs:

With a 16 x 3 inch billboard of advertising space on both sides, it is the ideal size for grocery lane belts. A customized Brand Bar makes it a pleasing sight to see while people wait on line, and it is light enough to be moved around with no problem.

What The Supermarket Gains:

The supermarket gains just as much from the Brand Bar as the business using the advertising space. By adding Brand Bars to your supermarket chain, it will instantly enhance the aesthetic of your lane belt. It will also create a better experience for your customers. Our billboards aren’t overwhelming and catch the eyes of people nearby.

Our nifty brand bars offer in-store messaging for your chain and provide local sponsorship that guarantees passive revenue and engagement from your local market.

What The Advertisers Gain:

The advertisers gain a platform. The most centralized location in their community, and repeated exposure. Shoppers go to the supermarket 2-3 times a week and for 30-40 minutes on average. With constant exposure to shoppers, a business advertising on our Brand Bars will see a long lasting growth in their brand name. People will recognize them outside of the supermarket, and once the service or product is needed, be assured that shoppers will contact the named business.

What The Shoppers Gain:

Waiting in line can be tedious and boring for shoppers, especially if it is a long line. Shoppers tend to look around for things to grab their attention, and the Brand Bar does just that. With an aesthetic to catch eyes, and useful advertisements of local businesses the shoppers don’t lose anything and gain everything.

A Few Tips on Catching Millennials’ Attention

Social media is always evolving with the likes of millennials in mind. The growth of Snapchat and Instagram filters in the past year has been crucial to the advancement of ways to upload photos and videos. And sequentially has been a new way to target and interact with these users.

So as a business owner, how do you use these updates to your advantage? Well, I will be giving you 3 tips on how to catch the attention of millennials and other users on these platforms.

1. Using Augmented Reality

Let’s start off with what augmented reality is. According to reality technologies, augmented reality is an enhanced version of reality where live direct or indirect views of physical real-world environments are augmented with superimposed computer-generated images over a user’s view of the real world, enhancing one’s current perception of reality.

Snapchat started this trend with its filters and Instagram shortly followed. These filters afford the users an opportunity to enhance their photos and videos with cute, scary, and funny filters. You are probably aware of the infamous dog filter, adding dog ears to the user(s) and once it senses an opening of the mouth, the filter adds a licking tongue with a “slurp” sound.

These filters give millennials a lot of freedom to play with when uploading their content. Using the current trending filters is a great way to reach these users right in their favorite app.

2. Live Videos

Just like the fascination with AR, millennials are just as fascinated with the idea of live videos. People want to see what is going on at the very moment.

The art of the live video is a relatively new concept to social media. Master this, and you’ll have people tuning in left and right to see what you are up to. Then, you have to keep them on your live video with engaging, informative content, or simply just capturing a specific moment in time.

Promoting a time when people should tune in is also a good way to generate traffic. Although, if you choose to promote your live video, be sure to have content worth tuning in for! Your reputation can easily be tarnished because of unfulfilling or boring content.

3. Make It Simple

Nowadays millennials are so used to having everything quick and simple. Want some new clothes? Order them straight to your door. Want to contact a company? Skip the headache of a phone call and chat with a bot.

Making your business easily accessible to people with questions, comments, and concerns will go a long way when building up your brand. Being known as the business that doesn’t give anyone trouble will be sure to bring you clients through word of mouth.

People don’t care if they are speaking with an actual representative or a bot, as long as it gets them what they want with no headache. Entitlement is a blessing and a curse for millennials and you have to know how to handle it.

Traits to Hire For A Start Up

Building up a startup requires a lot of work from yourself and your employees. Picking the right employees is where it starts. Having a team that you can rely on and spend your time being productive in other ways than babysitting, is a good way to start.

So what traits should you be looking for?

Well first off, you want your employees to be self-starters. Individuals that can get going without a clear outline or a babysitter, are always beneficial to any business. People who can actually finish what they start without you watching over their ever room is a must. Self-starters can even think of new innovative ideas for your growing company, the more the merrier.

Clear thinkers are those who can unclutter their mind with the daily tasks that need to be done, and regular emotions an employee deals within their personal lives.

Uncluttered thinking is always about being able to figure out the two-three things that matter in any situation, and equally importantly, being able to ignore the less important variables irrespective of how much noise others may raise about them. Ultimately, being able to filter out the unnecessary.

Nothing is worse for a business than a team of self-doubters. When looking for employees, try to pick out those that are self-aware. Being that a business runs like a cog, and needs every piece to run smoothly for it to be successful, having a team of self-doubters will essentially delay your success. Self-doubters won’t trust their instincts, ask questions when it’s too late, and bring down others with them.

Team players are an essential part of your team! These are the employees you like to have because they set the standards high, can handle constructive criticism, and provide feedback. They do everything to the best of their abilities and don’t worry too much about who gets the credit, as long as it done.

Look for candidates with these traits to propel your business from a startup to a growing business with a growing team!

Theory of Diffusion of Innovation Explained

Great! You have a new product that you think will change the world, now how do you market it?

Marketing a new product requires precise planning, promotion, and more. Effectively marketing your product will lead to a longer product lifecycle.

The theory of diffusions of innovations tries to explain why a population will adopt a new product at different times.  To understand how your small business can use this theory to master the launch of a product, let’s look at what the theory says:

When an innovating product hits the market, it will have a distinct product lifecycle. The speed of adoption among users and consumers will basically determine the length and extremity of a product’s lifecycle.

The theory suggests there are five main groups of adopters in a population. Below is a brief description of each group of adopters for an innovating product:

  • Innovators: These are the first people to take a risk and accept your product. They are usually highly sociable people who have not only a lot of influence on a population, but enough financial stability to take risks. These prominent social leaders will have a large influence on the community.

  • Early Adopters:  These people are usually the opinion leaders in their communities. They may have a lot to say on Facebook and Twitter or they may just simply be a “people-person.” They are also pretty financially stable but are more discreet about their adoptions than innovators.

  • Early Majority: The early and late majority groups are where most of a population will lay.  In particular, the early majority group adopts an innovation quite some time (depending on the product) after the first two groups. They don’t have positions of opinion leaders in their communities but do have higher social statuses.

  • Late Majority: These people are a lot more stubborn than the early majority and will typically wait until they are certain that there are benefits from this new product to adopt it. This group will wait until a majority of the community has adopted the product before they themselves skeptically adopt it.

  • Laggards: This last group of innovation adopters tend to have lower social status, low financial stability, are usually older in age, and only really in contact with family and close friends.  These people may adopt the product but may also never adopt the product.

To successfully strategize using this model, it’s important to understand your product and what sections of your community (age, location, gender, etc.) will fall under each of these categories. Each group of adopters should be targeted in a different way.

How to use it?

Sure, this model has a lot to do with new tech products, but it can be used in just about any industry.

For a moment, pretend you run a new business that sells protein powders and supplements. You believe your product is much different than other protein powders, so you consider it an innovation. Let’s look at how you can reach each of these groups through your different communication channels:

  • Innovators: Bring the product to fitness expos. Reach out to athletic influencers on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and send them a free product in exchange for a shout-out.

  • Early Adopters: Offer a discount code to Early Adopters that they can give to their followers in exchange for a small commission. Discount codes increase your sales and create loyal costumers.

  • Early Majority: Your work with the above two groups will hopefully aid the attraction of this group. But, in the case that this is not occurring, try Instagram and Facebook ads and promotion, create a blog section on your website, post recipes and how-to’s on your social media.

  • Late Majority: As we said, this group is very skeptical, so testimonials and reviews will be very beneficial in attracting this group. Ask customers to leave reviews on websites like Yelp! to help attract this group.

  • Laggards: This group is not really worth extreme investment unless by chance you think trying to attract them is extremely beneficial. This group is this stubborn, so marketing to them will be wasted time.

This type of marketing strategy, where you essentially create 4-5 different strategies for one product, will be most beneficial if your product is an innovation. If your company launches many new products throughout the year, this type of strategy may not be as practical time-wise.

If your company is ready to take the next steps in promoting your new products, reach out to inMark Media today! inMark’s team of professionals in social media, design, brand and website development, can help get your strategic plan on its feet.

Where You Should Be Advertising

With multiple stores going out of business because of corporations like Amazon, and other online shopping sites, it is getting harder to advertise in stores that people don’t visit. So as a business owner, where do you advertise, other than online, newspapers, or tv?

There are three businesses that people will always have to visit physically. Laundromats, barbershops/salons, and last, but not least, SUPERMARKETS. Supermarkets are the key to advertising to your local audience! Especially with our Brand Bars, shoppers will have to touch your ads. They can’t just skip the ad, change the channel, or throw it out.

Advertising in a supermarket will get you a better chance at being noticed. People who go to the supermarket, don’t go just once. Shoppers tend to go 2-3 times a week! That is a lot of exposure, rather than the 5 seconds they may see it in other forms of advertising.

To fully take advantage of Supermarket Advertising, you should have your ad in effect for at least 6 months to a year. This is for branding, chances are you won’t get a client the first time they see your ad. The way you get clients is by being the most recognized. The more shoppers that see your ad, the more they will think of your brand when a problem in your field occurs. So, next time they do need your service they know exactly who to call.

A business owner looking to grow their brand within their community, advertising in their local supermarket is a no-brainer. That is the best way to reach your target audience because of the number of people who grocery shop.

That is what you get when you advertise with inMark, repeated exposure to the right audience.

Exposure:

If people don’t see your ad, you are basically flushing money down the toilet. With our brand bars, people will always be exposed to your ad, and for more than 5 seconds.

Repetition:

With repetitive exposure, people will be unconsciously thinking about your business whenever there is a need for your product or service.

Precise Targeting:

Now that your ad is repeatedly exposed, it is about who you are targeting. With other ads like a newspaper or a TV ad, you can’t really pinpoint who you are targetting. If you are a small local business, then you need local advertising. And the local supermarket is the best place to do so!
