Formatting Instagram Captions

So you’ve come up with the perfect social media giveaway campaign, or you’re about ready to announce a new product. Your picture is ready to go, but now it’s time to tackle the Instagram captions.

We can’t stress it enough: Instagram captions matter as much as the picture itselfif not more!

Even though your picture may be attractive, and the giveaway is to die for, if the caption is too cluttered and grammatically incorrect, your post will lose a lot of its potential. Here are a few ideas that will help you create attractive and creative formatted captions:

  1. Where you create

Don’t create your captions in the Instagram app. Instagram is very unfriendly to caption-composing users because the drafted preview won’t show you an accurate depiction of how the caption will actually post. And, the preview window is small, so errors are easier to miss. Instead, write out the caption in your notes app or in a word document.

  1. Get it all out

Start out by writing out what you want to say—simply let it flow. Don’t worry about spacing, grammar, or emojis. Just get it all out with as much personality and brand-relative voice you can muster. Your caption is a synopsis of your business, so it is important to focus on reflecting who your business is in your captions.

  1. Revise, revise, and revise again

Sure, most people won’t stay on your posts for too long, but for those that do, grammatical errors will turn them away. Make sure your caption is free of misspelled words or poor sentence structure. If need be, copy and paste your caption into a word document and word check the caption.

  1. Spacing

Spacing out your Instagram captions will make them more appealing to users, especially if they are long. However, Instagram is extremely sensitive to spacing, and will typically not give you the results you want. It can be frustrating, but there is a super easy and quick trick that can fix this:

*When trying to add a new paragraph, there can’t be a space after the last text in the previous paragraph. If there is, Instagram will not recognize the break in the paragraph and will just combine the two.

  1. Add emojis

Emojis bring personality to your captions. And, they make a long, wordy caption less intimidating. You can end your paragraphs with them, separate paragraphs with them, or even create sequential lists with emojis. Use your creativity and your brand’s personality to add these in your captions.

  1. Proofread

The most crucial step. Make sure your caption is as perfect as you want it to be. Don’t assume your brain coordinated perfectly with your typing fingers. Because it probably didn’t. And, before you simply post and exit the app, check to make sure the posted version looks how you want it to. If it doesn’t, delete it, and review this list to make sure you didn’t miss a step!

Don’t let FEAR keep you from getting ahead!

How many times have you turned down a new opportunity because of your fear of change? Change is scary, it is uncertainty, and it is different from the norm. A lot can go wrong with change, but more often than not, it goes well. Fear of change should be the least of your worries when introducing your brand to consumers through supermarket advertising!

This is where your consumers go about twice a week to do their grocery shopping. It is the most centralized spot in its community because most people don’t drive more than 2 miles to get to their local supermarket. And lastly, everyone, no matter their income, has to go to the supermarket!

Being a smart business owner is easy until you face options, and some options are riskier than others. How do you make the right decision? Well, as for your advertising needs, our supermarket advertising programs are sure to hit the three main points an ad should hit.

Repetition:

Now you are the exclusive business in your local supermarket, so what? Well, let me explain. The average grocery shopper goes to their local market 2 to 3 times a week. That is 8 to 12 times a month! Depending on how long your ad is up, the consumer will be seeing your add multiple times over the course of 6 months to a year!

Exposure:

When you are trusting in an ad space, you want all the exposure you can get for your buck. And this is where a supermarket excels. Your ad will get all of the exposure you need because of its centralized location and the need to shop at the said location.

Target Audience:

Sometimes with ads, you don’t really know who you are advertising to. You may have a great ad, but you are reaching the wrong people. What is an ad without the right audience anyway? For a business working locally, your audience is the local persona. There is no better way to reach them, than their local supermarket!

Word of Mouth Won’t Cut It

10 Reasons why all small businesses need a website

In this day and age not being present on a digital platform can truly hurt your business exponentially.  About 60% of very small businesses (those with one to five employees) do not have a website, rather opting for a Facebook page due to familiarity and cost.  However, Facebook will only get your business in front of your immediate friends and maybe their friends.  In order to gain reach and credibility, a professional looking website is imperative.  It will not only showcase your products/services but as you add to your website, it will start to increase the likelihood that you appear as the top choice in your area within your industry.

Word of mouth marketing is still a very effective and inexpensive way to gain customers, however, it should be paired with a wonderful website.  Your website is the face of your business and first impressions are everything.  Still not convinced that you need a website?  Read on to find out why you may be missing out.

Why You Need a Website

  • Credibility – As mentioned previously, first impressions are everything.  Your website should portray your business as the leading business in the market.  Captive visuals, concise descriptions of your services, and ease of navigation should be a priority when creating your website.
  • Low overhead – If your products or services can be purchased completely online, then why pay for a brick and mortar location when you can house your entire business online?   There are many businesses such as consulting services, copywriting, tutoring, etc. that can be offered solely online and with very minimal annual overhead costs to maintain a website.
  • Always open – After you close your doors each night, your website could be that invaluable employee keeping your business open 24/7.  Products and services can be purchased long after you shut your doors.  You could be missing potential customers that possibly cannot make it to your location.
  • Creating a community – By integrating a blog, suggestions box, or service portal within your website, you are putting your customer’s needs at the forefront of your concern and it will surely be noticed.  Customers who feel informed and heard are more likely to return than those that cannot communicate with your business.
  • Enhanced customer service – Linked with creating community, by adding an FAQ section, or ticket system for customer concerns you could potentially reduce your customer service costs and give you time to process a response or corrective action.
  • Networking – Once you establish a website, you become part of a community of other business owners within the same market and it creates opportunities for collaboration.  Other business owners will feel compelled to visit your site to see how you align with the market and your competitors.  By working together, you could help each other grow your business.
  • Time is money – A website saves you time.  Without the need to continuously explain your services on the phone, face-to-face, in a brochure, or in emails; with an online catalog, you can provide lots of information about your products and services. Once your website is up and running, it is available to your customers indefinitely, saving you time.
  • Increased reach – With a website, you are connected to the world. Instead of thinking just locally, you can now market your products/services to the world. The sky’s the limit.
  • Attract new customers – One of the top reasons your website must look professional is for the potential of attracting new customers daily.  As consumers shift to online access for products and services, you must make yourself accessible and present.  You may find prospects in multiple stages of the sales process.  Therefore, make sure your website not only tends to the current customer base but also suppliers, researchers, and purchasers.
  • More sales – At the end of the day, your business revolves around the sale. Whether you’re selling products/services or a mission, you need a place to do it.  Building an online sales service for items found within your store will undoubtedly increase sales.  Allowing for people to make reservations within your website will increase sales.  Presenting the mission of your business within a well-designed website will gain you, followers. No matter what you are selling, a website should be seen as a tool to do so.

The digital age of marketing is here whether you are prepared for it or not.  In order to compete and keep your business relevant and afloat, you must take the first step and a website is one in the right direction.  If you would like more information regarding a website for your business, contact the inMark Media team, which is dedicated to making your business grow.

Trust the path you can’t see yet!

Have you ever stayed awake at night thinking about life after achieving your goals? YOU ARE NOT ALONE. If you are like everyone else with goals, you probably think very hard about what you will do once you achieve the goals you’ve set out to accomplish. And we are here to assure you that your goals will only grow after you reach them!

“Go as far as you can see, when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther.”

Disclaimer: The analogy you are about to read is thanks to our lovely Creative Strategist, Lauren Don.

This is like driving on a long road on a foggy night in that you’re only able to see as far out as your headlights allow you to, but we don’t just quit driving. Instead, we trust the road we are on and proceed with caution to get to where we can see, and simultaneously seeing farther than what was previously visible.

We often struggle to grind out a long process to achieve our goals because, in a world where instant gratification is awarded, we don’t take the time, nor have the patience to travel down a long road with the light at the end of the tunnel. The thing is… if we do “trust the process” and continue down the path of achieving our goals, then we will ultimately grow as individuals and have the capacity to set newer and better goals.

So I implore you to continue on your journey even if you can’t see the end! Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday and feel free to share this article with any loved ones who may be taking their lives for granted! Subscribe to our weekly newsletter here!

4 Easy Exercises For Your Mind

Our bodies are meant to get exercise to stay fit and we benefit in multiple ways when we do. The same applies to our minds. Some people neglect the most important part of our body aside from our hearts, THE BRAIN. There are multiple studies proving exercise is essential to our mind the more we age. It is pretty easy to exercise your mind, it just takes some extra effort out of your day. The mind coasts through the day when you perform daily routines…Switch it up! Here are some different exercises you can work on to keep your brain active and healthy. (None of these are video games.)

Math With No Help

Nowadays it is so easy to fall in the trap of everything being oversimplified. This causes our brains to relax a little too much, maybe even just too much. We are so quick to use a calculator for the easiest math problems. Try and solve it in your head, with no calculator, or pen and paper. This will get your brain thinking harder than usual. Ding ding ding! That right there is an exercise!

Righty to Lefty or Lefty to Righty

This one is self explanatory, try using your less dominant hand once in a while. When you wake up and brush your teeth use your other hand. Next time you try to throw a paper ball into the trash can use your other hand. You can even try eating with your opposite hand. Its a change of routine that will exercise different parts of your brain.

Memorize That List

Next time you need to go shopping, take down a mental note of your list. This list can be of anything, you just have to remember it! We get so carried away with writing notes in our phones or on a paper, we hardly take time to actually remember things. Challenge yourself, recite the list an hour later and try your best to remember everything.

Less GPS, Yes Less GPS

Traveling has gotten too easy with the creation of the GPS. Back in my father’s day they traveled off of memory or learning new routes by actually remembering how to get to their destination. Now, we use our GPS for the smallest distances and forget how we got there. If getting to a new destination is a must then use your GPS to save time, but on your way back try getting home without it. You’ll use your brain a whole lot doing so.

Small Business Investments You Should be Making

Small business’ investment is an important part of a businesses’ growth. It would be foolish to think that just “doing business” will be good enough to grow your business to the height you wish it to be. But how you invest is just as important as actually investing. So how should a business invest their time and money?

Strong online presence:

Your online presence is like your resume. It’s your chance to promote all the best attributes of your company in as many ways as you’d like.

That doesn’t just mean a website. That means Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest accounts and just about any other social media platform that serves your business’ goals.

Your online presence reinforces your brand to your audience over multiple platforms. Unity and symmetry across your accounts will help you maintain your image as credible.

Mentoring:

Maybe you don’t know how to brand your business on social media. Or, you don’t know how to grow your business into the multi-million-dollar business you want it to be one day.

Maybe you think you know all the skills and steps. But, let’s face it, nothing ever goes as planned, and you will probably still fail at some point along the way.

That’s why mentors and coaches are so important for small businesses to invest in. If you create a relationship with a successful businessperson in the same industry as your small business, they will know all the ups and downs and fails and successes that you can make.

They’ll guide your business to success by picking you back up off your feet and leading you in the right direction.

Assistance:

If you’re running your business, then you already have enough anxieties keeping you up late at night.

An investment in an administrative intern will take away the mundane office tasks that are nothing more than mere time-wasters.

Instead, you can spend your time focused on the business issues that are essential to the prosperity of your business.

Yourself:

This is probably the most beneficial step you can take for the overall triumph of your business. An investment in yourself is an investment in all the activities you are involved in throughout your day.

Taking 10 minutes to meditate in the morning or getting in a 30-minute gym trip after work will have immense benefits on your ability to focus and work efficiently throughout the work week.

Diversify:

Remember when you were younger getting upset over something you put a lot of time into, and your mom would tell you to ‘not put all your eggs in one basket’?

Well, that saying isn’t going anywhere, soon. It’s even important for running your small business. Investing in your business is the only way it will actually grow.

But, if you put all of your focus on one or two aspects of your business, that’s risking disaster. Seriously.

It is human nature to want what we don’t have

Have you ever noticed no matter how far you get or how many things you have, you’ll always want more? Well, we’re here to express that you should value what you have as much as you value what you are chasing. It is an ongoing cycle that will never end unless you quit chasing what you don’t have and appreciate everything you do.

This brings us to our quote of the day!

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”- Epicurus

When we spoke about this, there were many insightful takes on it.

Love Yours

When you chase things in life whether it is material things, money, or goals, it is easy to lose sight of what you’ve already garnered and experienced. You will never be truly happy if you are always chasing what is next. Nevertheless, it is important to want more for yourself, but it is even more important to appreciate how far you’ve come and what you do have. There will always be things you don’t have, be happy with what is yours!

You don’t know what you have until you lose it.

Image result for cartoon of i wish i had a bike, i wish i had a car,Wanting more is normal but it is important to be grateful for what you have. No matter how bad you think you are doing, there is always someone worse off than you are. This shouldn’t take away from what you want but add to the appreciation of you getting what you want.

Live your life appreciating what you have and you will be that much happier! Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday and feel free to share this article with any loved ones who may be taking their lives for granted! Subscribe to our weekly newsletter here!

Supermarket Advertising: Digital Screens

To stay at the top of your competitors you need to find innovative ways to further grow your success. How we are dealing with this is by introducing new products a business owner like yourself can use to grow your own brand! Read more to see how we are changing supermarket advertising!

Affording innovative ways to advertise your small business in the local community is on the top of our list. This is exactly what we have done with our digital screens. Our state of the art digital screens is a new way for your business to gain exposure in our lane gate program.

Our digital screens place your ad on a high-definition video screen at the front of the store in the checkout lanes. Why wouldn’t you want your small business promoted on a screen that will catch the shopper’s eyes? That’s right, you would! With a synchronized video wall across the front of the store, it will be very hard for the shoppers to not glance at the screen at least twice.

These screens leverage the 41 minutes of in-store time and the 13.1 minutes of screen dwell time. This allows for the shoppers to walk around the store and see your ad at all times, no matter how long they are walking around they will see a different portion of the ad eventually. It presents engaging content and targeted promotional offers as they shop and while they wait to check out.

The world of advertising is always changing, and changing with the times is a must. At inMark, we try our best to stay at the top of the game with new ways to advertise in supermarkets. These digital screens will boost your business’ exposure to the top. Contact us to get your business in a supermarket near you!

If you haven’t done so, subscribe to our weekly motivational newsletter and wake up to a nice message every Tuesday!

Success starts with dancing in the rain!

Nothing sells like brilliant Motion Graphics

A picture speaks a thousand words, but even that can be too little for the message you want to articulate to your audience. In short, if you wanted to add more words to thousand that a picture already speaks, it may come out cluttered and unappealing to your viewer! As a strategic marketer, how do you get past the confinements of still graphics?

Make them POP!

No wonder more people are transitioning to motion graphics and telling a story through a short video that can speak volumes to your followers.

Tell A Story

Motion graphics have more potential to create a story than a picture can. Being confined to a still picture calls for imagination and interpretation, but a motion graphic can be much more direct about what you want to convey. With 10 seconds of moving pictures, you can fit 10x the amount of words and captivate your audience. With a combination of pictures, videos, and text, you can properly articulate the point of the motion graphic and do so without pressuring your audience or overwhelm them with a 5-minute long video! People just don’t have the attention span to sit and watch full videos, 10 seconds are more than enough!

Show off your skills!

A 10-second video uploaded to Instagram or Facebook will say a lot more and also bring value to your brand. Let your audience know you have a talented team behind you that can create custom content. Your audience will notice when you use a motion graphic because you aren’t just another picture or post on their feed. Woo them with a nicely done short clip, if you need help creating custom content, I only hear great things about inMark’s design team!

Social Engagement

Aren’t you more likely to show a friend a video you saw on social media than a regular picture or plain-old text you had to spend 5 minutes reading? I know I send cool and/or funny videos to my group of friends all the time. This is the same potential motion graphics will have on your content. People may take it and repost it on their own pages.

You will also gain more feedback from your audience after watching a video. A picture or text will easily be scrolled past, but watching a 10-second video gives the user more time on your page or post to leave a comment.

Why settle for stagnant when you can have a motion? In short, you have nothing to lose moving towards motion graphics, they’ll catch and keep your audience’s attention! Take advantage of our team and find out how we can create custom content for your business.

“Me” Time is The Most Important Time

“Me” time is the most important time of your day and is crucial to bringing happiness in your stress-filled day. It can be hard to break out of a daily routine, especially when we coast through our days mindlessly. Waking up at the same time every morning, going to work, getting out, and going to sleep can get repetitive. It can make you feel unaccomplished at times, more so, bored with your routine. If you feel this way its time to spice things up and take care of yourself. Mentally or physically whatever it is, the point is to make you feel better. Here are some ways you can make some time to care for yourself.

Meditate

Don’t be scared to be in your own head. Learning about yourself can help you grow in many ways. Making time to meditate will make your day a bit easier and it has plenty of mental and physical benefits. The hardest part of meditating is finding the time and actually doing it. Now it is up to you if you would like to wake up 15 minutes earlier to start your day with meditation, in the middle of the day during lunch, at the end of the day, or all three.

Find a Hobby

Going through our days mindlessly can get boring and repetitive. The key to brightening your day is finding a time to do something for yourself. Now, this can be anything you enjoy doing. After a long day at work, or completing chores, I enjoy watching the NBA. This gives me something to look forward to at night knowing this my “me time” and it gives me a sense of relief knowing after I get everything done I can relax and watch the artistry in my favorite sport. A hobby can be as simple as collecting stones that look like chips.

Work Out

There is no better way to work on yourself than actually getting exercise. At times it can be hard to motivate yourself to go to the gym or go for a run. Actually doing so will make you feel a lot better about yourself as you work on your well being. Even if it is difficult to give yourself that pep talk to make it to the gym, you can always do some home workouts. Push-ups before the shower, after waking up, or before going to sleep can be a great start.

Maintain Your Relationships

We often go through life unappreciative of the small things in life. Our family and friends are our biggest supporters and sometimes we forget to appreciate them. A simple text or call sharing your day with each other, or even letting them know your appreciation for them in your life will make your day better and much more meaningful. As well as making them feel good about being your life.

At the end of the day, you are your most important asset. Take care of yourself, mind, body, and soul. Having “me” time in your day will help you find happiness in days that are not going in your favor. Take some of these tips and incorporate into your life however you see fit!

Success starts with dancing in the rain!

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain.”

True character is built from the ugly we see in our everyday lives. It is how you handle adversity and turn it into a lesson you can live through and pass along.

Contrary to the popular belief that you can wait out a time of crisis in your life, I’m here to say that is called “playing the victim”. What this sounds like is, “Why is this happening to me?”, “Things will get better”, the result? A life lived as a victim of your surroundings and never putting your foot forward to get what you’ve always deserved… True happiness!

Taking control of your life and living as a creator of your own path, rather than a victim of a path given to you, is how you truly experience life.

So how do you learn to “dance in the rain”? I’m going to throw in a hip-hop reference to reiterate that there is always something to gain from a bad experience.

“There is beauty in the struggle”- J Cole.

Everyone struggles in life, no matter your economic status, your ethnicity, or your upbringing. To live your life you NEED struggle, you NEED to overcome challenges, and you NEED to learn from adversity!

Taking the mentality of a creator is how you learn to dance in the rain. Dealing with the hardships that come with life is difficult, and some people can’t handle it all, but the “creator” will live through the struggle and learn how to make it work in their favor.

So today, I ask you to be a creator. Be the creator of your own path that no one will do but yourself! Learn to dance in the rain!

Don’t Gamble With Your Marketing

As a business owner/marketer, you need to make sound decisions that benefit your business in the long run. Planning strategically rather than tactically for a short-term gain will put you in a better position to succeed. inMark has the perfect advertising space for people to not only touch your ad once but each time they see it! No wonder more and more business owners are choosing our Brand Bars set in their local supermarkets!

Experience the wonders of our Brand Bars in its totality and become the best-known business in your local community! What we offer with any of our products are repetition, exposure, and precise targetting.

Repetition

The average shopper doesn’t go to the supermarket only once, they are usually back and forth from their home to the supermarket either getting last minute ingredients, doing their weekly shopping, or buying that one craving that just popped up on their taste buds. Whatever the reason is that gets them to the lane belt will ultimately bring them straight to your ad! Repeated visits guarantee more views for your ad. More views equate to a better campaign.

Exposure

This is arguably the most important aspect of our Brand Bar. Your ad is consistently exposed to everyone coming out of a supermarket. Strategically placed where everyone will either see it waiting in line or touch the palm of their hand when they pick it up to divide their groceries. An ad that is not seen is a waste of time and money, be sure to be seen with inMark!

Targeting

You are in the right place strategically, your ad is being seen multiple times a week, but who are you targeting? If your target audience is your local community then there is no place like the local supermarket! People don’t travel more than 2 miles in most communities for a supermarket, it is the most centralized location in most towns. For a small business yearning to be known in their community, this is the location to be advertised in.

As if that’s not enough…

We also afford the opportunity to be advertised EXCLUSIVELY. We believe that a business choosing to advertise with us shouldn’t compete with other businesses in the same field. Choosing inMark will eliminate all worries of being thrown in a magazine or newspaper with hundreds of other ads, or purchasing airtime on a heavily packed TV network. Be the only business, and be the best-known.

So quit waiting around for a better opportunity to come and contact us!

Pro Tips to Hash-Tagging

Pro Tips to Hash-tagging

Hash-tagging gets your business’s name in “the know.” In a basic sense, it gives you a further reach, and a further reach means more followers.

The Hashtag

Local

For a small company to make a big impact in a community, it needs to keep online content, especially hashtags, local. That doesn’t mean every hashtag needs to include the town or state you’re operating in, but it should definitely be included in at least a few. It’s all about your audience and target market, how they think and where they are.

Relevant

If your service is lawn care, there’s no point posting “#couch #lion #lamp,” right? What would that do for your business? Absolutely nothing. Again, think about what is relevant to your current audience and the audience you are want to target and attract.

Out of the captions

Hashtags will help you get views, but you also don’t want to annoy the audience you already have. There’s not much worse than a tweet or Instagram post that’s mostly, if not all, hashtags. Use the hashtags strategically. Reply to one of your tweets or comment on your Instagram posts with them, it’s just as effective if not more.

Tools

Twitonomy: View the top 10 hashtags of any twitter user. Simply search their twitter handle and discover their frequently used hashtags. Want to know what a successful company in your industry is tweeting? This is an easy way!

Hashtagify.me: Another top 10 hashtag tool but based on a key word. Have a post about #art but not sure what related hashtags to tweet with it? Use Hashtagify.me to find out hashtags related to #art.

Twitter’s tailored trends: One of the most basic and free tools to figuring out what to tweet. The hashtags in the trending section on twitter are based on your location and who you follow. Your audience is key to your business, so knowing what they’re tweeting and care about will help you develop your tweets.

Supported platforms

It’s rare for a social media platform to not support hashtags. However, here are four social media sites where hashtags aren’t just supported–they’re used.

Facebook: Facebook is one of the newest social media sites that has added hashtag support. Hashtags link posts to a list of posts, by friends and non-friends, with the same hashtag.

Instagram: You can both link to and search hashtags on Instagram. Both will lead to two groups of Instagram posts with that hashtag in it: Top posts and most recent. It will also show related hashtags on the top of the page, a useful tool if you are stuck on other hashtags to add to your post.

Twitter: The first social media site to implement hashtags into their site. Twitter tracks trending hashtags, are used by journalists, for government updates, and to cover political and entertainment events. Twitter’s use of hashtags is more of a #livefeed. When searching a hashtag, there are three ways to filter the results: all, top, or people you follow.

Pinterest: Pinterest hashtags mark and search for content. Clicking on hashtags in a pin description directs results that contain the same hashtag.
