A Team That Plays Together Stay Together

Building team culture is important for everyone in a company. A strong team culture will boost morale and promote a happy workplace from top to bottom. There are a few ways to do so but we are going to zone in on how team sports or activities can grow a company as a whole. Even if some people don’t like sports or might be introverts, here is how you can get everyone to join in and have some fun!

There is no feeling like being a part of something and winning while you are doing so. There are a variety of different games and activities you can play as a team that will be a fun outing for everyone in the office! For those in your group that don’t play sports or can’t, obviously it isn’t a good idea to force them, but have them be a part of the outing by keeping score, or by hanging out on the side with the others that aren’t playing. So here are some games you can try out with your team!

STRIKE!

Bowling is not much of a physically demanding game, given that your hips are still working fine, it is a fun game to play with friends, on a date, and with your coworkers. It can be all fun and games or the competitors in your group will have a blast trying to take down the other team. Either way, your team will have fun being together, knocking down pins, grabbing something to drink, and eating some good appetizers.

Shoot your shot!

This one is more physically demanding so take the necessary precautions to have the game be fun for everyone. For the less athletically capable team members have them cheer on the side. And for the less talented, have it be known that it is a friendly competition while setting the proper boundaries to keep from alienating those who can’t keep up. Joining a league to play together or meeting up at a certain time during the week will be a fun outing.

Hit it out the park

Another great game is SOFTBALL. It will be a tad bit difficult for those who never picked up a bat, or pitch an underhand. Nonetheless, it is a great team sport. Your team members who don’t want to join the party can still be cheering on the bleachers! It is perfect for businesses with a lot of team members.

A Black Belt Never Quits

If you’re reading this it’s too late to give up! You are already on the right path to your end goal. Why would you want to quit early? Whatever it is that you want, it is POSSIBLE to get there through hard work and perseverance.

People have been in your position before. Every black belt started as a white belt, but they didn’t give up on their dream, why should you?

This quote can be applied to many situations in our lives. Many of us want success to be given to us right at our doorstep, waiting around for a chance to shine. We would love it if life was that easy.

The truth of the matter is that everyone we see succeeding in different areas of their lives worked countless days for it. Whether it was perfecting their craft and setting a foundation each day, or someone who simply didn’t take no for an answer. They were committed to their end goal. It takes patience, perseverance, and determination to become get that “black belt” that you’ve always wanted.

It doesn’t stop there! After you get to the point of success, ask yourself what you can do to give back. Black belts usually end up teaching the white belts! Giving back and spreading love and knowledge will spread growth.

The mentality inMark has is for everyone to become the best version of themselves. If a team member learns enough to surpass a manager, that is great for everyone! The business grows, the team member grows into a new role, and the manager has more time to do something else!

Continue to evolve your marketing!

When it comes down to supermarkets, marketing, and advertising departments being aware of consumer behavior, it is important to segment their target markets to efficiently increase their business’ success.

Behavioral Segmentation

Behavioral segmentation is the most relevant type of market segmentation when it comes to supermarkets and advertising your product or service in them. Behavioral segmentation divides consumers into groups according to their usage loyalties or buying response for a product. Consumer loyalty, brand switching, non-users of any brand, heavy users of your competitors are all components that marketers and advertisers use to analyze a consumer’s behavior.

Online Marketing

As technological advances continue to increase, different ways of advertising have been being used to attract consumers in supermarkets. According to a study done by Aptaris, (a consumer science company) digital circles have become essential due to the fact that “shoppers are increasingly moving their planning and shopping online”. Thus, digital optimization is important to success. Many food retailers are investing money tactically through the use of mobile, digital and social devices.

Evolve Your Marketing

As Generation X and Y continue to age and grow, advertisers need to develop an expertise in advertising and promoting their product or service through social media. The opportunity for a business to grow and gain exposure through the use of social media continues to increase. Studies from Aptaris display “that total shopper usage of social media exceeds retail social presence”. Therefore, companies investing money to advertise their product in supermarkets need to develop social media strategies and engage in social media to connect efficiently and productively to the consumer.

The 80—20 rule of advertising states that “20% of a company’s customers account for 80% of its sales volume”. It is for this reason companies should really take initiative to create new marketing/ advertising strategies and methods to keep loyal customers and gain new ones in this technologically advanced modern world we live in.

5 Localized Marketing tips for Small Businesses

The desire for local products is booming. Location searches that include words like “near me” “closest” or “nearby” According to Google Trends data, have increased 34 times from where they were in 2011. Of those searches, 50 percent visit a store within a day of their search, and 18 percent make a purchase. A company’s online presence, especially when targeting local costumers, is proportionate to their success.

  1. Embrace and promote testimonials

People are all about local. A “home-grown” product or service naturally attracts local potential customers. But, only if you can reach them. Testimonials are your way into the local market.

When Sue hires you to paint her house and then loves the job you did, she’ll most likely rave about your company to her friends. Now, imagine if you asked her to submit a review of your company on your website or Facebook page. Her praise will turn from a few local friends to a few hundred Facebook users.

Reviews are basically free advertisement. Even if you receive a bad review, a quality, a well-worded reply can turn the review into your favor.

  1. Create SEO content

Local content is local views which are local customers. Sounds simple, but if one of the three is absent, then so are the other two. To get the costumers you want, you need to answer the questions they have. Their issues are your issues.

Sue’s Painting company wishes to improve her site views. To do this, she wants to post SEO content to her page. So, she goes to her followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and asks “What questions do you have about paint brands?” or “What questions do you have about using primer?”

When Sue gets costumer questions, she writes articles that answer their concerns. This will generate more views, which in turn generate more sales. Make sure the articles are interactive and easy on the eyes. See Tips for SEO Writing for more information.

  1. Stay active on social media

According to Pew Research Center “around, seven-in-ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves.” In total, about 69 percent of Americans use social media. That’s over half of all potential markets. Obviously, social media activity is important, but localizing your activity is a whole different battle.

Local hashtags on Instagram and Twitter can help with exposure. If you’re trying to promote your business to the local White Plains, New York market, you might want to use hashtags like “#Westchester” or “#WhitePlains.” Social media is free to use, so check out what hashtags your competitors are using, too.

Geotags are another tool that will increase the success of your social media content. Geotagging, according to Social Media Examiner, “is the process of attaching geographical data to photographs, videos, websites, status updates and even emails.” It can be done on multiple social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Having a Geotag for your company lets other social media users tag your company’s location in their posts, too. AKA, even more, exposure to your company!

  1. Advertise to your potential market only

If your target market is women aged 15 to 20, why would you advertise to 70-year-old men? The same goes for location. If your market is local, then target locally. Promoting your business in a newspaper that spans multiple counties and states is a waste of your time and your money. Will consumers travel 3 hours to your dental practice? Probably not. You’re better off focusing on a realistic radius. Like we said before, people love local.

Supermarket advertising is a great way to enhance your brand’s local recognition. The average person goes to the supermarket 2-3 times a week. That means if your company is advertising in the local supermarket, you’ll get an average of 3 exposures to your brand per person per week (pretty much guaranteed.)

  1. Get involved in the community

No matter the quality of your product or services, people love to support local businesses that support local causes. That’s why your business’s success will greatly increase with community involvement. Donate to a local 5k, run the 5k as a company, sponsor a volleyball team, serve on a board or volunteer at a food bank.

People like to feel good about the choices they’re making, and the same goes for buying your product. So, promote a month-long awareness or donation month, or give a dollar of each sale to a local cancer event. Whatever you do, keep it local.

Breaking Down Monthly Targets

inMark focuses a lot on growing each team member in all areas of their lives. We set our targets for the month every first Monday, and it doesn’t stop there. During these meetings, we sit and talk about setting our goals and going in-depth about how we can put ourselves in positions to succeed. We do so by breaking it down into these elaborate steps:

The 4 B’s

Body, Being, Balance, and Business are the 4 core aspects of our lives. We take time to think about our goals in each category of our lives and really digging into why each goal is important to us, not only because we want to, but WHY we want to. This is how we make sure we stay focused on our goals. Without the why, we can easily forget about why we need to get up early, or why we need to read that book that we are dreading to read.

Weekly Targets

After creating our monthly targets, we make it even easier to break down and keep track of our goals! Pinpointing it down to how we can get closer to our goal each week.

Being specific as possible will put you in the position to actually complete your goals. Put it into perspective, let’s say you would like to lose weight this month. Being as precise as possible to how much weight you would like to lose. You come up with losing 10 pounds this month and it boils down to losing 2 pounds a week for a 4 week month. What are you going to do to lose those 2 pounds a week? Breaking it down to going to the gym 4x a week for the month adding up to 16 days at the gym! Now you have voiced how many times you will be going to the gym for the month. Making your goal attainable will give you some wiggle room for missing a day or two during the week.

Accountability Partner

You know once you say something you should actually do it. We like to be held accountable for our goals and this is why we choose an accountability partner for the month. This is your trusty sidekick who will check in with you at the end of the week to see if you have done what you set out to complete. Choose wisely.

The Extra Mile

I hope for your sake you didn’t just do the bare minimum yesterday! There are many people getting through life with no direction or clear goal in mind and it is up to YOU to stand out! Standing out from the crowd may be scary but it is a necessity to achieve the vision you are working towards.

Going the extra mile in life, whether it is in your relationships, business endeavors, and/or even your health, will lead to good results even if it does take time.

Build Lasting Relationships

Our lives revolve around the different relationships we build and how we connect the dots. Given that the way we build our relationships will impact us in our personal or professional lives, why wouldn’t we want to go the extra mile for them? People will see your effort in building the said relationship and it will result in a more fulfilling bond. In turn, those same people will bend over backward for you, the way you do with them. Going the extra mile will pay off in the long run.

You Can’t Be Great Without The Work

Nothing is more fulfilling than reaching your business goals. No matter if it is owning your local hair salon, or being the best salesman at your company, whatever it is, you want to aim for the stars. Few people can get to where they want to be without refining their craft or skills. Some people can do it using raw talent or gifts they possess, like being a natural salesman.

For the average person with seemingly unreachable goals, going the extra mile is a MUST. Longer days, shorter breaks, more work, less sleep. There are more people doing the bare minimum than there are people going the extra mile. Stand out and stand alone it is less crowded than being average.

So, before getting your day started, think of one thing you can do TODAY to get closer to your goals. Trust me, with a little more effort you may be beating half of your competition solely on work ethic. There are fewer people going the extra mile than you think.

Supermarket Advertising: Strategy Vs. Tactical

There are different ways to approach an advertising campaign and it is based on the results that you are looking for. Are you thinking long term or do you want instant gratification? If it is the latter, then our products won’t be in line with your vision.

What is the difference between strategic and tactical marketing?

Tactical Marketing

Tactical marketing has to do with the action of implementing ideas for your given business and mostly focuses on short-term gain. It can take the form of anything ranging from a sponsored coupon for people to purchase products or services right when they see the ad, to the step by step actions that make it happen. Some popular techniques used, especially on social media, are contents, giveaways, refer-a-friend program. It is an ongoing process that can always be improved.

Businesses go wrong with tactical marketing when they don’t think about the strategical part of marketing. Focusing on tactical marketing before you even built your brand is a recipe for failure in the long run.

Strategical Marketing

Businesses use strategic marketing when creating a plan to expand their reach and build a brand to increase profitability and productivity in their campaigns. This is the category where supermarket advertising falls into. When advertising in a supermarket through inMark Media, you the shortest contract you can purchase is 6 months. This is because we are not aiming to get you one or two sales right away. We pride ourselves on building your brand. It takes exposure, repetition, and precise targetting, all of which we offer to all of our clients.

The longer your business is in our supermarket ads, the more times people will see your business and in turn, trusting your brand. Advertising for the long run is exactly what you get. We want people thinking of your business in their time of need, instead of buying one time because of a coupon or a giveaway.

Next time you are choosing which route to go when deciding on a marketing campaign, think long-term before short-term. Building a short-term marketing campaign won’t sustain your business. Contact us at inMark Media to see how we can help your business become the most well known in your community.

New approaches to brand on social media, 2018

Social media is an ever-changing phenomenon that we continue to learn and innovate new ways to make use of it. Marketers have quickly been integrating social media into their marketing plans for branding while still keeping their feet wet in more traditional marketing channels. Why wouldn’t you want to brand yourself on the platform that is most looked at and people are obsessing over? The whole point of social media is to connect with others and grow your network! Your business’ brand can make a smooth addition to the already budgeted traditional channels to newer marketing channels.

For people who have been on social media but are looking for new ways to approach it in 2018, here are three ways we think you can approach social media differently.

Synchronized Marketing

Social media is exciting for everyone involved. The marketers branding themselves on each platform, the users who are looking to be entertained or informed, and the innovators looking for new ways to expand the given platform. We can get carried away with creating content for social media and we forget that social media is just another channel for brands to market in and add to what they have already built on other channels.

When planning for social media, yes it is necessary to create unique content for the platform, but the message or tone of your social media accounts should be in line with your overall branding.

Know What You Are Measuring

Social media analytics can get a bit confusing between impressions, your reach, clicks, and etc. Facebook and Instagram have a pretty easy way to keep track of these, whether it is using Instagram insights for your business profile or Facebook analytics. Align the results you want with what you are posting. Make the proper adjustments and recourse your approach to result in better numbers for what you are looking for.

For example, if you see your videos on Facebook are only grabbing the attention of your audience for 5 seconds, is that enough time for your message to be delivered? Will it resonate with your followers? This is where you need to know what you are looking for in your analytics!

Approach Each Platform Differently

There are different ways to generate results on different platforms, but keep in mind you don’t have much time to impress your followers. When devising a campaign on whatever channel you are aiming for know that your consumers will take the first opportunity to skip your “ad”. On TV programming, they either change the channel or get up to get another bowl of cereal. On Instagram, your ad may get 2 seconds before they keep on scrolling, and the same goes for Facebook.

So how do you reach this portion of your audience?

Be straightforward and clear with your message. Don’t beat around the bush and make sure those 2 seconds can grab the attention of the viewer and reel them in.

Was this article helpful? Leave your comments, questions, or inquiries below! Also, if you haven’t done so yet, subscribe to our weekly huddles for a great start to your day every Tuesday!

Building Your Culture From Square One

You have your business, its up and running, growing, and now you need a team of people to fall in line with your culture. How do you create a culture you ask? First, let’s talk about what culture is.

Culture is what your business embodies as a whole, in its’ character, personality, values, traditions, beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes. Having a strong culture will make you stand out from the regular companies that you are competing with. BE UNIQUE.

“Ok, ok, but how do I create a lasting culture?”

Culture is compromised of the basic components of your business and the intangibles of your business.

Starting with the basics

The basics consist of everything any business needs to run smoothly. These are the policies, procedures, employee conduct forms, and many more in the same realm. They may not be the most exciting part of your culture but it is a necessity to keep your business running smoothly and your employees staying in compliance with the rules.

It is the written “law” of your workplace and it is to be respected by everyone, including the owner. Everything in your culture trickles down from the top, so set an example and lead your team.

The Fun Part!

This is where you can get creative! This is where the magic in a workplace happens. Be creative and fun, or be as strict as you’d like to be. It is up to you to set the tone for current and future employees. This could be anything from what clothes people can wear, what you eat on Fridays, or what you do for holidays. The more lenient or open your rules are, the more you are promoting self-awareness and creativity. People won’t just be working for a status quo, but for what they believe in if they buy into your culture.

Make your team feel loved and appreciated and I guarantee they will stay that extra hour with no sighs on their face.

Supermarket Advertising: Repetition is Key

How many times have you seen a Coke-a-cola commercial on TV in the past 6 months? More than enough times to have their brand embedded in your head. This is exactly what you should aim to do when you are advertising your business. Coke-a-cola does this by having an ongoing campaign that you repeatedly see throughout the course of a given time frame.

So how do you do this without loads of money spent on TV ads? Branding through cost-effective supermarket advertising!

Our brand bars are strategically placed where everyone shopping at the said supermarket will literally touch your advertisement. With this kind of exposure, it is only right to get the repetitive exposure you deserve. Repetitive exposure works for the future of your company, growing your brand the longer your ad is up. Building that connection with your audience subtly without coming off too strong is important because you don’t want to “force” your business on your audience.

Branding yourself strategically over time often works wonders for a business, especially one with a local target audience. Chances are your audience won’t need your service or product when they first see your ad. So why tailor your ad for instant gratification, when you know slow and steady wins the race. Having your ad consistently in the hands of your audience will lead to a better overall brand and the next time Becky has a friend looking for a new car, she’ll remember seeing your ad countless times in the past and refer you to her friend. That is how building a brand through repetition works in your favor.

Next time you are looking for a new and efficient way to advertise, think about us, think about how you want your brand to be known, and think about your success. We can help put you in the position to grow and become the most well-known business in your local area. Contact us at inmarkmg.com or call us at 844-INMARK-1 for a free consultation!

Take Advantage of Users’ Mobile Obsession

As mobile phones become more like mini super powered tablets, we become more reliant or obsessed with checking our trusty sidekicks. As a business owner, why wouldn’t you want to exploit this mobile obsession? After all, we do open most of our emails on mobile devices!

Targetting people where they look the most is a pretty good marketing plan for any kind of business. Especially if you create your content to directly tailor to these mobile readers. The point is to lure in readers and grab their attention for more than just the opening click.

Here are some ways you can enhance the overall experience of your mobile users.

Your Email is an Extension of Your Overall Brand

When a consumer opens your email, your goal is not for them to leave 5 seconds after opening it. You want your audience to experience the fluidity of your overall brand. Keeping the same overall experience whether it is on a phone, on a laptop, on your website, or on your social media is key to enhancing the journey a customer would take from start to finish.

You don’t want your consumers to open an email and click on a link to a broken website, or a social media account you rarely use. Your company may be blocked from sending any more emails after an experience like that.

Make sure everything flows and is responsive to all different kinds of devices!

Your Subscribers Aren’t The Same as Your Favorite Case Study

Personalize your approach to your subscribers’ tendencies and needs. They aren’t the same people used in the case study that tell’s you to send emails at 3 o’clock. Gather data and study the analytics behind your campaigns to improve strategies and learn more about YOUR audience. It means much more than just adding their name and guessing the time that they will be most likely to open the email.

Design Your Emails Around Mobile Devices

Let’s face it, what are you doing with your marketing if you don’t have mobile devices in mind when creating your content. If your email is responsive for mobile devices, chances are it is responsive on any other device.

Images and Motion Graphics

Nothing catches the eye like an entertaining GIF or an attention-grabbing image or video. Yes, the actual copy of your email is important, but most of the time it isn’t nearly enough to keep your consumer from pressing that back button.

Of course, even with these tips, it won’t be an easy journey to finding the right email marketing campaign. Your friendly neighborhood Media Agency that goes by the name of inMark Media is here to help! Contact us for consulting or our email marketing services.

Stop Caring So Much, They Don’t!

This week’s huddle is a great one. Do you find yourself hesitating to chase a dream because of what people will think? Do you live in a shell of yourself because you think everyone is concerned with your life?

If you do, then this video will do you wonders!

Now, let us break down the topics expressed in this motivational video.

Our Innate Nature to be Loved and Accepted.

It is in our human nature to surround ourselves with loved ones. Sometimes to the extent of living a life that is not true to us. Constantly seeking the acceptance of others will result in living a life that is unfulfilling and will never make the most important person happy… YOU!

Ask yourself this question, would you be happy with your life if it were to end tomorrow? If you’re not, then what steps are you taking to change it! The first step is to be yourself and to quit worrying about what other people think of you. They can’t make you happy like you can!

“We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do”- Ethel Barrett.

When we worry about what other people think we are essentially building a wall between what we want and how we’ll get there. It is a mental block that holds us from being truly happy. The reality is that most people don’t care about you as much as you think.

Humans are egoistic in nature and don’t care about most things that don’t directly impact them. In short, most people are so focused on themselves they probably didn’t see you trip over that rock or walk straight into that pole.

Small Steps Go A Long Way

Success doesn’t come from the few major decisions we make in life, in fact, it is the opposite! Success comes from the smallest, easy decisions we make correctly every day throughout our lives. You can’t build without a foundation. Setting a brick down each day will pay off in the long run!

Today I challenge you to focus on the small things. Make your bed, sweat a little bit, or pick up a book, whatever brick you can lay down today will help you a year from now just be consistent in your approach!

Mindfulness in the Office

Sometimes, we get so caught up in completing tasks and meeting deadlines that we don’t take the time to appreciate our progress. If you know that you are the type of person to rarely take time out of your week to devote to yourself, you may want to consider small ways to implement mindfulness into your workday. What is mindfulness? According to mindful.org, “Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us”.

By focusing on mindfulness, specifically within the workplace, you can both de-stress and remain productive. The following tips will help you recharge so you can get even more done.

Focused Breathing
When you transition between tasks, practice a breathing exercise. Focused breathing will not only provide more oxygen to your brain but will also ease your mind and clear it from your many racing thoughts. Don’t know a breathing exercise? Inhale, hold, and exhale for one count of four each. Once you have done that, repeat the process but add another count of four until you reach 16 beats. This exercise really makes you pay attention to your breathing.

Unplug When You Can
At work, it’s almost mandatory to use technology in some sort of capacity. Whether it’s designing or answering emails, odds you are you are likely to spend the majority of your day on the computer. While technology has advanced our form of communication and increased efficiency, it’s important to use everything in moderation. When walking to meetings, eating lunch, or even commuting to work, try to refrain from using technology and use that time to pay attention to
your body at the moment. Notice your breathing patterns, listen to your heartbeat. Do your best to think at the moment.

Take a Walk– Not a Hike!
In between tasks, don’t be afraid to get up and walk around your office, building, or nearest parking lot. Pay attention to the pace, the stride, and the feel of your walk. Play around with these factors as well to add some variety. Small things like this may seem silly, but they will give you an overall relaxed piece of mind that will reset your focus and improve productivity and mood.

By practicing these simple actions, you will practice more mindfulness in your day which results in a more relaxed and stress-free state.

Supermarket Advertising: Be Exclusive

Supermarket advertising is different than most traditional advertisements. Unlike the rest, it is solely exclusive to the business being advertised. There is no competition for businesses… Again for the people in the back, NO COMPETITION!

Even if you are the highest bidder on magazine space, you probably aren’t the only business of your kind in it. Exclusivity will bring in more clients for you, and with us, it is at an affordable price!

That’s why supermarket advertising works—it’s exclusive.

Supermarket advertising is entirely exclusive. Our clients are the only company in their industry that advertises in their local supermarkets. That means there’s no outshining competitors and no fear that your competitors’ advertisements will outshine yours. The only focus is your advertisement’s quality, and our design team is filled with exceptional designers who will work to create an ad you are satisfied with.

Why are we preaching exclusivity? Because inMark cares. We care about our clients and their successes. The more exclusive the advertisement, the more effective the results.

inMark’s supermarket advertising products:

  1. Brand Bins
  2. Brand Bars
  3. Brand Benches
  4. Cart Corrals

Brand Bins

Brand Bars

An update to the original grocery store checkout divider. inMark’s Brand Bars feature a 3-inch high billboard that displays a double-sided advertisement. Our distinct and sharp Brand Bars are unique from other advertisements. Their innovation is sure to catch the eye of supermarket shoppers.

Brand Benches

If a shopper is tired, what are they going to do? Sit down. That’s why brand benches are one of the smartest investments for small businesses. Our dynamic and versatile platforms are strategically placed so they catch the attention of even those who are in too much of a rush to sit down.

Cart Corrals

A potential customer is about to embark on their weekly food-shopping trip. What’s the first thing they’ll need? A cart! That’s where they’ll see your advertisement. You’ll be on their mind from the beginning of their shopping experience to the end, AND even on their drive home after dropping the cart off at the corral.

Welcome Center

Advertising will never be easy, but you can trust inMark with the responsibility. Our supermarket advertising programs allow businesses to exclusively and effectively advertise their brand to their local target audience in their local supermarkets. How to Get Noticed on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a lot different from the social media platforms that are usually talked about, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and of course, Facebook. There are so many misconceptions about the uses of LinkedIn. It is difficult for many newcomers to grasp how to use it to your advantage.

Did you know LinkedIn is one of the best B2B platforms?

LinkedIn is a search engine similar to Google and runs on SEO. Using keywords and phrases you can find certain types of customers or professionals to connect with.

What if you wanted to get noticed on LinkedIn by other professionals?

The key to being noticed on LinkedIn is the small section of your profile that is your professional headline. This is your bread and butter when it comes to what people will think of you in the 2 seconds it takes for them to read it.

If you are like most users, your profile is closest to a virtual resume, rather than selling your experiences as a tool for someone else to use. It isn’t because you aren’t important enough to have your resume as your profile, it’s just, no one really cares about what you’ve done, but what you can do.

You need to tailor your profile to draw in clients. It has to be about what you can offer whoever is coming across your page, and at the same time taking advantage of SEO.

To get the best of SEO, become conscious with your choice of keywords and phrases. Consider what people would search when trying to reach your page. Would they type something like “Copywriter for a small business” or “High School basketball coach”? Definitely not “3 years of marketing experience” or “Administrative assistant, Company ___”.

How to get noticed.

Keep it simple. LinkedIn gives you 120 characters to express yourself and use it as an opportunity to use the ideal keywords and phrases.

Answer these questions to create your headline!

  • What would others call your profession or service? (Copywriter, Marketing Director, Wedding Planner)
  • What service or product are you offering? (Copywriting, management services, designer,  wedding planning)
  • What is your target audience? (Small business owners, start-ups)

Put it all together and it may look something like this, “Copywriter | Copywriting services | Serving Small Business Owners and Start-ups”.

It is a simple and clear approach to boost your profile’s SEO ranking!

What Employers Look For In Applicants

The most talked about piece of paper is losing its value every day. From young our parents, friends, family, teachers, and just about any media source, all talk about getting this paper. Being as simple as a nicely printed paper with your name on it, the bachelor’s degree continues to be less important to businesses looking for new employees.

You can’t just walk into an interview with your only credential being a bachelor’s degree, it just won’t cut it anymore. Back in the day when it was less common, or more difficult to get one, you could get a nice paying job without any real experience. Fast forward to 2018 and it has become extremely competitive in almost every field you can go to school for.

What higher learning institutions don’t teach you are the intangibles you need in the workplace. Of course, the hard and technical skills are needed, but we’re always told we’ll be “replaced” by robots. So what are we supposed to get out of an education system that only teaches us how to follow rules, guidelines, and tests our memory? Nothing really, that is why the bachelor’s degree is being looked at less each year, and your actual experiences are the real substance in your resume.

What does the business workforce actually want?

More than the typical education

A regular four-year college education isn’t attractive anymore. Imagine you needed to pick one person to be on your team (basketball, softball, hockey, etc.) and they all do the same amount of practice to make the team, some a little harder than others. The one that practiced and actually has actually played in a game will stand out the most.

A number of people graduating from college each year with no real-world experiences are flooding the job market. Employers would rather someone who has experience doing the job, or someone they see is committed to continuing to learn on the job.

Humbleness

Sometimes personality can be the deciding factor in employment. Nobody likes the cocky, know it all, that is hard to work with, am I right? Sometimes your personality can be the deciding factor in employment. Being an easily trainable employee who admits when they’re wrong, and asks questions may be exactly what an employer is looking for. You are more inclined to learn when you ask for help, be coachable.

Someone who pays attention

Being able to pay attention to detail is always a good skill to have. With the growth of technology, a lot of millennials have had a decrease in their abilities to focus with and without distractions.

On top of attention to detail, employers want to see your determination and how well you can follow through with a task. A proven track record of finished projects will help your case to a business owner.

5 Tips To Make Work Enjoyable

If you are the regular 9-5 worker you must know the typical work environment is boring and depressing if you feel unaccomplished and don’t see your job changing anytime soon. Coming in every day, going through the same routine, even eating the same cycle of food!

What can you do to be happier in your work environment? Here are 5 tips to make your day better!

(Wo)Man Cave

You spend most of your day at work, why not make it yours to work at? If you have your own office space, like a desk, decorate it as much as you can! Here at inMark, we have vision boards on our walls to decorate and keep us focused on attaining our visions of a better future.

Live Healthier

This is a given, a healthier life means a happier life. Eat healthily and drink plenty of water, who knows, maybe you can make it a personal game or contest.

Be Organized

Even if you are a lazy person, working in messy and cluttered spaces will put a toll on your happiness. Making your workspace manageable and nice to look at, can be the difference between a good start to your day, or another hell hole.

Take A Stroll

Sitting in the same chair all day WILL drain you! Get up and move around, go outside for a walk, take a breath of fresh air, and I guarantee you will be that much happier.

Positivity Goes a Long Way

A 9 to 5 that gives you time to think in your head can be dangerous or pleasing. Getting yourself in a negative rut can be hard to get out of. Think positive thoughts, instead of “why am I here?” “why do I still work here?”, think “I’m alive today” or “let me write down a plan to get to where I want to be.”

Even if you only take one of these tips, I hope your day brings you more happiness when you do!
